Iterated Local Search for the eBuses Charging Location Problem

Abstract Electric buses (eBuses) will be the mainstream in mass urban transportation near future. Thus, installing charging infrastructure convenient locations play a critical role transition to eBuses. Taking this into account, paper we propose an iterated local search algorithm optimize location of stations while satisfying certain properties system, e.g., demand and ensuring that limited driving range not impact service. The effectiveness our approach is demonstrated by experimenting with set problem instances real data from 3 Irish cities, i.e., Limerick, Cork, Dublin. We compare against MIP-based solution. Results show superior terms scalability its anytime behavior.
